All Oktoberfest is free except for the rides and attractions. You can sit inside or outside of the tents. Reservation is possible but you need to make that at least in January for the next Oktoberfest. If it`s in your plan to visit Oktoberfest that is better to book hotel several months before you go.
On Oktoberfest there are 14 large beer tents but that is not enough places to deal with a crowd. It will be always place for you if you are alone or with your partner. If you are bigger group and you don`t have reservation for place, months ago before Oktoberfest is starting than you will have small problem.

Tents are opening for visitors usually at 10:00 am or at 9:00am at weekends and they are closing at 11:30 pm.
