Rare it is the visit to Covadonga that is not completed with the ascent to the Lakes. En el año 722, en Covadonga, que es hoy centro de la devoción mariana y símbolo del Principado de Asturias, tuvo lugar la legendaria batalla contra la ocupación musulmana, con la cual Pelayo inició la Reconquista de España.
Rara es la visita a Covadonga que no se completa con la subida a los Lagos. Tras 11 kilómetros de subida por una carretera sinuosa, los lagos de Enol y de La Ercina reposan a más de 1.000 metros de altitud. En la Vega de Enol, el 25 de julio se celebra la Fiesta del Pastor (de Interés Turístico Nacional), en la que entre otras actividades, tienen lugar carreras de caballos montados a pelo o la famosa escalada a la Porra de Enol.
